Call for University of Ghana School of Public Health LID HUB International Postgraduate Scholarship for Academic Year 2018/2019

University of Ghana School of Public Health LID HUB is pleased to invite suitable qualified candidates to apply for a place in the following full-time postgraduate programmes, with a focus on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Implementation Research, for the 2018/2019 academic year, commencing August 2018.

 

  1. Master’s Degree Scholarships (Master’s in Public Health - 12 months, Fulltime)
  2. PhD Scholarships (48 months – Fulltime)

 

The scheme provides scholarships for fulltime studies. Only applicants of WHO African Region are eligible.

 

The training will be focused on courses relevant to a career in sexual and reproductive health and rights implementation research. Implementation research in Sexual reproductive health and rights and targets research capacity building aimed at ousting preventable mortality and morbidity in maternal and neonatal health, ensuring delivery of quality sexual and reproductive health services, cervical cancer, violence against women and girls and sexual and reproductive health needs of adolescents. This therefore supports the identification of health system bottlenecks in SRHR and approaches to addressing them. The goal of this scheme is to enhance graduate training capacity building and boost the number of sexual and reproductive health and rights researchers in African countries.

 

Eligibility

  • People affiliated to WHO Human Reproductive Programme Partner Institutions.
  • Applicants should normally be under 35 years old for the Master’s programme, and under 40 years of age for the PhD.
  • Meet the standard University admission requirements for international graduate students and have gained admission to the University of Ghana.

Scholarship Package

The scholarship is tenable at the University of Ghana, School of Public Health and covers:

  • Return economy airfare between the home country of the student and Accra, Ghana.
  • Full Tuition fees.
  • Full Research costs towards dissertation.
  • Monthly stipend to cover living expenses including accommodation, equivalent to local living cost.

Applications for the University of Ghana School of Public Health LID HUB international postgraduate scholarship must be downloaded from the School of Public Health Website: http://publichealth.ug.edu.gh/ or the University of Ghana Website www.ug.edu.gh and submitted together with a CV and two references. Referees should email their recommendations directly to wholid-hubgh@oulook.com

 

Applicants must simultaneously submit applications for admission into the relevant programme at University of Ghana: http://admission1.ug.edu.gh/freshstudents/index.php/graduate-admissions/apply-now.html. Submit evidence of application to wholid-hubgh@oulook.com alongside scholarship application form.

 

Awarding of Scholarship is subject to gaining admission to the University of Ghana. Only successful applicants would be contacted.

 

Calendar for Application

  • Deadline for application                     14th March, 2018
  • Announcement of selection result      25th April, 2018
  • Announcement of selection result      9th May, 2018

 

Results

Applicants will have 14 calendar days to confirm acceptance after notification of offer. After this date, it will be assumed that the student is unable to take the scholarship and will be given to the next available qualified applicant. University of Ghana School of Public Health LID HUB reserves the right to refuse or end attribution of the scholarship if any information provided in support of the application is false.
