University of Ghana, School of Public Health is the New GEMNet-Health Secretariat

Effective March 2019, University of Ghana, School of Public Health (UGSPH), a founding member of the Global Evaluation and Monitoring Network for Health (GEMNet-Health), has assumed the role of GEMNet-Health secretariat. The GEMNet-Health secretariat provides core administrative and coordination functions as well as technical assistance and support for network activities.

Dr. Justice Nonvignon, Senior Lecturer at UGSPH also assumed the role of Chair of GEMNet-Health in March 2019 and will anchor the UGSPH team providing secretariat support to the network.  UGSPH has played an active role in GEMNet-Health activities, by hosting GEMNet-Health international workshops, participating in GEMNet-Health curriculum development efforts and collaborative technical assistance and research activities, and assuming key roles in the GEMNet-Health Steering Committee and other Committees and expert groups. 

The Secretariat was previously hosted by USAID’s Measure Evaluation Project based at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Previous Chairs of the Network have come from Addis Continental Institute of Public Health, University of Pretoria, Public Health Foundation of India and Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública (INSP), Mexico.

Congratulations to the entire team at UGSPH for their deep, sustained commitment to the work of GEMNet-Health.  GEMNet-Health members look forward to UGSPH guiding GEMNet-Health to even greater heights in the coming years.

What is GEMNet-Health?

 GEMNet-Health, established in 2012, is a global institutional partnership which fosters organizational growth, collaboration, and peer-to-peer support for M&E of health programs globally, through ongoing institutional linkages among members. A network with members located worldwide and a diverse set of skills and experiences, GEMNet-Health is a global resource for technical assistance and capacity building in a range of M&E topics.  GEMNet-Health’s mission is to ensure access to high quality monitoring and evaluation (M&E) training, research, and services

GEMNet-Health’s scope of work includes conducting joint training programs, development of competency-based curricula, collaborative research, and links with external stakeholders. Linkages among members can range from formal memoranda of understanding to faculty exchange, external examiners, webinars, and guest lectures.
