Working Experience

2020 - Present: Senior Lecturer, Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra.   

Teaching Biostatistics, Statistics, Research Methods, and conducting research and supervision of students’ thesis. At the PhD level, I teach Quantitative Research Methods in Public Health (BSTT 706) and Stata, and at the masters level, I teach Advanced Biostatistics (BSTT 602), Methods in Biostatistics (BSTT 601), Biostatistics and Research Methodology (GSPH 601), Geographic Information Systems Application in Monitoring & Evaluation (MOEV 626) and Stata. At the undergraduate level, I teach Biostatistics for Public Health (GSPH 401), Junior Clerkship in Community Health (COMH 401) and Stata.

 

2017 - 2020: Lecturer, Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra.

Spatial and multi-level modelling of multiple indicators of vaccination coverage in Nigeria and other low- and middle-income countries.

                                         

2017 - Present: Visiting Professor, Department of Public & Environmental Health, University of the Gambia, Gambia. 

I serve as a Visiting Professor responsible for teaching in the MPH/MSPH Programme. 
I am responsible for teaching Biostatistics (PHC 503) and Research Methods (PHC 620), both at the postgraduate levels as well as supervision of students’ thesis. 

 

2019: Visiting Scholar, BANGA-Africa Research Fellowship, University of South Florida, USA. 

Served as a Visiting Scholar on BANGA-Africa Research Fellowship in the College of Public Health, University of South Florida. As part of my role, I developed and applied geospatial and multilevel models to analyse Public Health data. Specifically, I developed models to analyse under-five child malnutrition in Ghana (geostatistical model), prostate cancer in the Georgia – USA (geospatial model) and hypertension among adults in Ghana (multilevel model) using survey and routine data sets.

 

2010 - Present: Chief Executive Officer, Statistics & Analytics Consultancy Services Ltd                                                             

Providing Research/Statistical consultancy services to clients from project planning to data analysis and dissemination of research findings as well as collaborating with other research organizations. The position also involves managing Research Teams. Notable among them is the collaborative study conducted on Health Facility Assessment in the Northern Region of Ghana for Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 2018, as well as Skills Recognition Systems and Labour Market Acceptance of Graduated Traditional Apprentices in Ghana (2011) for International Labour Organization, Geneva Office in collaboration with Standard Development Services, Ghana. 

 

2013 - 2016: Associate Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics, Lancaster University

I taught Medical Statistics (MATH 335), Probability (MATH230, MATH 105 and MATH 104), Software Application and Data Analysis in Biological and Life Sciences (BIOL 421), Statistical Models (MATH 333), Project Skills (MATH 390), Likelihood Inference (MATH 551 & MATH 330), Bayesian Inference (MATH 331), Probability and Measure (MATH 313), and Topics in Modern Statistics (MATH 334).

The mandate of the Committee is to act as a forum for the discussion of all matters relating to research and consultancy in the Faculty, for the development of policy recommendations and for the implementation of policy decisions of the Policy and Resources Committee.

Conducting scientific research, providing statistical support, co-ordination, and monitoring of fieldwork for the Consult with the notable one among them been the Western Region Human Development Report 2011 undertaken by the consult for United Nations (UNDP) - Ghana office.

 

2009 - 2017:  Research Associate, Standard Development Services– Ghana 

Conducting scientific research, providing statistical support, co-ordination and monitoring of fieldwork for the Consult with the notable one among them been the Youth Employment Study conducted for African Development Bank in 2014/2015.   

 

2010 - 2011: Data Analyst, Office of the President, Policy Evaluation and Oversight Unit, Ghana                                                               

Carry-out day-to-day policy evaluation, monitoring and research, statistical analysis and interpretation on policies, programmes and projects undertaken by various ministries, metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies as well as regional coordinating councils in Ghana for the President of the Republic of Ghana.

 

2010: Field Researcher, The George Washington University, USA                                                        

Part of the field researchers who carried-out the Gendered Social Contexts of Adolescent HIV Risk Behaviours: Family, Peer Group, and Community Influences survey in South-Eastern Ghana for the George Washington University, USA in collaboration with Institute for Statistical, Social and Economic Research at University of Ghana, Accra.  I was also responsible for translating the questionnaires from English language to Ewe which is one of the Ghanaian languages spoken by the people of Volta region of Ghana.

 

2006 - 2009: Statistician, Ghana Statistical Services, Accra-Ghana                                                         

Part of the team that carried out successful research surveys for the Service such as Millennium Challenge Account Program Component of the Ghana Living Standard Survey -GLSS5+, Multiple Indicator Cluster Study, Ghana Maternal Mortality Study, and Education Sector Head Count as well as carried out day-to-day data analysis and interpretation for the Service.

 

2007 - 2008: Field Researcher, UNICEF- Ghana Office, Accra, Ghana.          

Part of the team that carried out successful research surveys for UNICEF-Ghana Office such as Multiple Indicator Cluster Study (MICS).
