About
Dr. Abubakar Manu (B.Ed., MBA, PhD) is a Lecturer in the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the School of Public Health. Dr. Manu’s main area of teaching and research is Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health issues. He has over 15 years’ experience in field research, working on diverse studies during which he coordinated several national projects. He successfully managed Teaching /research programmes of the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health; a collaborative project between the University of Ghana School of Public Health and the Bloomberg School of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University. He participated in the development departmental track-elective courses including adolescent health courses at both Masters and PhD levels. Dr. Manu is adept in curriculum development issues, project implementation, research design and implementation, data processing /management and statistical analysis of data. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Gates Institute in Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2006. He has extensive knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office package, SPSS and EndNote software for referencing. His research interests include adolescent sexual and reproductive health and development, sexual risk behaviours, parent-child sexual communication, HIV-related risk behaviours and family planning. He teaches adolescent health and development: issues, policies and programmes at Masters and PhD levels.
