World Health Organisation (WHO) donates IT Equipment to the School of Public Health (SPH)

September 7, 2026

In a brief but colourful ceremony at its premises, WHO country representative in Ghana on the 2nd of September 2026, donated some IT equipment to the School of Public Health. The items included laptops, desktops and accessories, television screens and a camera. Presenting the items to the school, the WHO country representative said WHO works in partnership with SPH by extending support to the school to carry out its mandate of training populations of public health professionals and also to engage in capacity building. So, to them this is just another window of opportunity to support the school of public health to continue with public health education and training.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Dean of the School of Public Health, Professor Kwasi Torpey was grateful for the donation. He said the donation has come at an opportune time as the school is involved in so many progammes where this equipment would be useful. He mentioned in particular the Centre for Evidence Synthesis, which is lacking IT equipment, so he welcomes the donation  and said it will enhance the work SPH is doing in promoting public health for the sub-region and particularly for Ghana. He finally assured the donor that the equipment will be put to good use as desired.
